Zlin Z-242L for X-Plane

This is a twin-seat training and aerobatic aircraft designed for basic and advanced training. It is also used for acrobatic training in civil and military aviation schools and also for UPRT training (Upset Prevention and Recovery Training)  Maneuvers are allowed with a load of + 6G to -3.5G.

The aircraft has an all-metal airframe and the main wing spar filled with pressurized nitrogen.

Z242 was created by further development of the Zlin 42, 142 series. The prototype took off in 1990, it has been produced since 1992 in the the company "Moravan a.s." in Otrokovice, Czech Republic. Since 2009, "Zlin Aircraft" continued the previous production. Compared to the the Z-142, it has redesigned nose with a Lycoming engine, wings without a forward sweep angle and winglets at the wingtips. Later versions have a more rounded canopy frame.

About X-Plane model

X-Plane model features detailed clickable 3D cokpit but at the same time it is optimized for good FPS. External 4K texture uses PBR material, 4 basic liveries plus white repaint kit.

Model is tested and tuned in X-Plane 11.55 with standard flight model. When using the experimental flight model, I found differences in control surfaces responses and moments of inertia.

Therefore, for those of you who prefer an experimental flight model, I created a variant for the experimental model, which is modified to be similar to the standard behavior. You can find it in the extra ZIP file in the main model folder.

The model represents a classic analog vesrion of the cockpit. To save work and time, most instruments use classic older 2D instruments from X-Plane, some with a modified background. They are built into 3D frames with glass. The airspeed, altimeter, vertical and G-meter speed have new 3D needles. The G-meter remembers the max. and min. G values.

The airspeed and G-meter are the only ones that best correspond to a real aircraft. Other instruments are just more or less similar to the real ones. So there is room for possible future development and improvement

You will find a clickable configuration tablet in the left side pocket. It allows you to switch visual variants of the model. It is possible to set the amount of fuel in the tanks and the payload weight on it - this will affect the display of the co-pilot / passenger, if more than 160 kg is set.
